Winter Wonderland...

In a corner of Hyde Park, the yearly Winter Wonderland has opened up for the festive season and a winter wonderland it is indeed; full of stalls, rides and other attractions.
The stalls, all decorated with lights and tinsel, are small wooden cabins built to resemble the sort of log cabins you’d find in Lapland. Each one is stocked full of trinkets and small arts and crafts from around the world.
The food stalls are also luxuriously over the top, with the English Food Fair selling traditional hog roasts, fish and chips and real ale.
This however comes at a cost, £4 for a mulled wine in a polystyrene cup in a mock Austrian cabin seems to me to be a little excessive, this of course is only my opinion but i found it to be far from authentic! I really hate to say it and I’m not a Christmas scrooge but Tacky is the only word that sprung to mind,
Luckily after finding our way out of the maze of screaming children and thumping drum and base coming from the rides (which I can’t quite understand how that is Christmassy) we found a quieter part of town to enjoy a yummy Chinese which i hasten to add was one of the best i have ever had.
What starts well ends well?

Pretty from afar though

Meet Yuffy III.........

A simply perfect house warming gift!!! Not entirely the conventional way to obtain a pet mouse but nether less he’s amazing!

However…….. Trying to keep the little critter in the cage which was provided for him as his new home has proven rather difficult, I discovered very quickly over the weekend that Yuffy III doesn’t think that the cage is for him to stay in simply somewhere to eat his food and poo!, he would much rather be out and about exploring, eating things he shouldn’t be eating and being generally annoying! Naturally I had to be firm with him as all new parents do and nip this bad behaviour in the bud…… by finding him a lovely new home (one a little less easy to vacate from) in a giant vase!

But I am completely in love with him!!

Thank you T xxxx

Most recent excursion...... Company Doooooo!

Feathering the nest

Thurloe Place

Men will never understand…. This is a fact!  Having recently moved house i have come to the conclusion that no matter how sensitive ones “co-habiting partner!” is, he will never quite grasp the same spindly concept that most women do. And that is….Things don’t have to be comfortable to have their place in your home, in fact the more uncomfortable they are the more I like them. Chances are if things are practical and comfy then they are bloody ugly and boring!!

So what…… I like lamps that give out so little light they are practically useless, but make the room look like something out of the latest addition of Elle Home, enough scatter cushions on your bed to pad out a small house, candles lining every inch of unused space. All of which are completely useless often annoying and unnecessary luxuries. But a good friend once advised me its “The reason not the need”
Jagger & Pallenberg

I like them. I take after my mother, sadly I do get excited about buying a candle and rushing home to put it in the place which I have imagined it to be in, in my head all day, it gives me a sense of satisfaction!

So, cleverly (I think!) I have managed to convince my “equal” partner in this equation that we “NEED” a new sofa along with a new table and chairs. Despite having no money and a perfectly “practical and comfy” sofa, dining room table and chairs already there.

Spice is Nice
“Prison furniture”, as I now refer to it, not that I have any idea what prison furniture might look like, but I imagine it to be like that!!!

It sounds awful but it’s not, its natural instinct to want to feather your own nest with your own useless, unnecessary luxuries! Birds do it (theirs aren’t necessarily useless or unnecessary!?) but they don’t use other birds second hand feathers, do they? So why would I want to sit on a second hand sofa and eat at a practical table!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am probably being a little dramatic!!

I understand this is a process!!
